Provider Education
The Inclusive Family Health Initiative (IFHI) develops educational resources and training to help clinicians deliver care that reflects the full diversity of modern families. We support healthcare professionals in collecting accurate health histories, communicating with sensitivity, and building trust with donor-conceived, adopted, and surrogacy-born patients and their families.
Family history is a cornerstone of preventive medicine and personalized care, guiding how providers assess risk, plan treatment, and promote long-term health. and promote long-term health. Yet traditional medical forms and workflows rarely capture the realities of diverse family structures—particularly donor conception. Our programs equip clinicians with practical tools to fill these gaps, foster inclusive conversations, and deliver equitable, patient-centered care.
When providers include questions about a patient’s conception, they help normalize diverse family structures and strengthen care by enabling:
More accurate genetic and medical risk assessments
Improved healthcare delivery and continuity of care
Informed decision-making and preventive care
Greater trust and psychological safety
Respect for patient autonomy and self-understanding
